## How Doses are Determined
To measure a radiation dose, Planmeca uses an anthropomorphic RANDO phantom with MOSFET dosimeters positioned inside. The calculation of the effective dose is based on the revised guidelines from the International Commission on Radiological Protection. The MOSFET dosimeters are able to provide a good amount of precision with a real-time read-out and are characterized by their angular sensitivity. They used a method for defining effective doses that has shown equivalent results in other studies. It is recommended that the practitioner decide the exposure parameters and appropriate FOV for the best diagnostic image quality with the lowest possible dosage for each unique patient and treatment circumstance.
