iTero Element® 2
The iTero Element 2 is the next generation of iTero’s 1st Element intraoral scanner - the iTero Element. This evolution was enhanced with 25% faster scan processing and faster start-up time, with a longer-lasting battery than its predecessor.

iTero Element® 5D
This is the next evolution of the iTero Element 2. The major innovation here is its Near-Infrared Imaging (NIRI) technology to improve diagnostic workflows. This feature aids in the detection and monitoring of interproximal caries above the gingiva in real time. The iTero Element 5D was the first intraoral scanner on the market to offer this unique feature.
As previously mentioned, all iTero Element 5D models (including the Plus Series) are compatible with a laptop, but most are paired with the manufacturer’s onboard cart design.
The iTero Element 5D also offers two premium software features that have proved popular with patients: the Invisalign Outcome Simulator and iTero TimeLapse.
The Invisalign Outcome Simulator helps patients visualize how Invisalign treatment could improve the alignment of their teeth, which has been proven effective for treatment acceptance.
iTero TimeLapse technology helps patients see clinical changes over time to help them to stay engaged in the improvement of their oral health. This tool helps doctors keep an eye on treatment progress for more successful outcomes.
With its premium and advanced features, the iTero Element 5D is priced between $23,000-$36,000, which includes the cart/monitor.
For a very limited time, you can purchase the iTero Element 5D through Renew Digital at a fraction of the cost as iTero makes way for the Lumina™. As an official iTero certified reseller, your 5D includes Invisalign® access all backed by iTero with their fantastic training, support, software and warranty included for 1 year.
iTero Element 5D® Plus Series
The iTero Element Plus Series include all of the latest innovations from the iTero Element 5D, with the major innovation of the Invisalign Outcome Simulator Pro. This feature improves the visualization and speed with which this tool can be used. With the Outcome Simulator Pro, simulations are powered by advanced algorithms, providing a realistic image of a patient’s potential future smile.
Like the Element 5D, the 5D Plus also includes the option for cart or mobile (laptop) configurations, as well as the premium tools like the NIRI technology for caries detection and the iTero TimeLapse technology for displaying scan changes over time.
As the flagship scanner in the iTero lineup, the iTero Element Plus series ranges from $42,000 - $48,000.

Now that we’ve covered the upfront costs associated with each of the current iTero Element scanner models, let’s dig into the total cost of ownership - which may include additional fees for operation.
The software used with your intraoral scanner matters because it directly impacts the performance you’ll get from your scanner. The ideal scanner will have no lag time between scanning and loading images on the screen.
Early in the foundation of the company, iTero placed great emphasis on the value you’ll get from their software, not only for improving the scanning speed but also becoming a full clinical resource for your practice.
myiTero® is the exclusive software for iTero Element scanners. Additionally, because iTero scanners are the only brand compatible with Invisalign®, their software exclusively offers this popular workflow integration. MyiTero is also an award-winning restorative program, with premium features designed to guide scans on specific procedures - making it easy for doctors and staff to operate.
As a reminder, if you purchase through iTero’s CPO program, you can avoid the monthly fees with software, subscription, and warranty for 3 years.
Ask your Renew Digital sales representative for more details.
While customer service doesn’t directly impact upfront cost, it’s definitely something you should consider over the long term.
Like their commitment to providing the leading software experience, iTero also places emphasis on providing a great customer experience by assigning dedicated support and integration teams to every scanner purchase.
The purpose of these teams is to ensure you and your staff are efficiently and properly trained on using your scanner. iTero additionally offers self-paced, interactive courses, videos, and other customized instructional support, all as an added value to you and your team.
One consideration that is sometimes overlooked is the warranty included with your scanner.
iTero warranties are comprehensive to ensure you don’t miss valuable scanning time, with coverage on hardware replacement as well as providing fast spare parts shipment.
Now that we've explored the cost of an iTero scanner.. does the value justify the investment?
It’s important to know why doctors choose iTero for their practice. Early in iTero’s 15-year history, orthodontists quickly adopted intraoral scanning technology as an alternative to traditional impressions.
Having an easily exportable patient record in an STL format, which can just as easily be shared with a mill or dental lab, allowed for a more efficient exchange of dental records without requiring physical storage space.
Plus, iTero is manufactured by the same company as Invisalign® and is the only compatible intraoral scanner for dental professionals working with the popular clear aligner brand.
iTero also has a deep history in restorative work. iTero has powered over 10 million restorative procedures worldwide.
Through their award-winning restorative platform, general and specialty practitioners are given a powerful scanning walkthrough to improve treatment planning and case acceptance for restorative procedures. With these tools, an iTero scanner enhances restorative procedures such as crowns, bridges, implants, surgical guides, and more.
