In today’s fast-moving dental imaging market, many doctors are upgrading from 2D to CBCT, switching between brands, or consolidating offices.
But what happens to the existing panoramic, pan/ceph, or CBCT machine sitting in your operatory?
At Renew Digital, we specialize in making that transition simple, transparent, and financially rewarding. Whether you're upgrading your technology, relocating, or switching brands, we want to talk to you about buying your used X-ray system.
For over 14 years, Renew Digital’s mission is 100% focused: we only buy and sell premium, direct-digital extraoral X-ray systems.
That includes:
Panoramic X-rays
Pan/ceph combo systems
Dental cone beam (CBCT) units
Why not everything? Because specializing in just these categories allows us to offer white-glove service, faster removal, and better support. We know the ins and outs of imaging and have the tech infrastructure and expertise to do it right—every time.
Before Renew Digital, doctors didn't have much of an option when considering an upgrade on their imaging equipment, forced to leave behind quality equipment manufactured to last 10+ years with proper care and use.
We built and defined the up-cycle market on pre-owned dental imaging equipment. Specifically, to help dentists in your shoes today, giving financial benefit for those who invested in quality and maintained with proper care.
Based on our expertise in the marketplace, we know what equipment maintains its value and would be useful for years to come to a future doctor. Narrowing our scope to just these types of dental equipment allows us to deliver higher quality products backed by superior customer service and support that is not diluted by buying or selling other types of used dental equipment.
That's why we’re looking to purchase systems that:
Are still installed and working at time of pickup
Are from major manufacturers like Carestream, Sirona, Planmeca, i-CAT, Vatech, Kavo/DEXIS and others.
Are direct-digital (no analog, phosphor plates, or film)
Are not obsolete or discontinued
This ensures every piece of equipment we purchase has a strong second life—and can be restored, warranted, and supported for the next practice we serve.
We often get questions about buying other types of dental or medical equipment. To avoid confusion, here’s a list of equipment we do not purchase:
Intraoral X-ray heads or portable handheld units
Analog or phosphor plate systems
Medical X-ray equipment
Intraoral cameras, dental chairs, or operatory furniture
Equipment no longer in service or with known defects
X-ray parts, boards, or incomplete machines
Focusing on high-value, reliable systems lets us maintain our promise of quality, safety, and ongoing service.
Selling your system to us involves just 5 easy steps—and we handle all the logistics!
Get started by filling out this short form. You’ll need:
Manufacturer and model
Year of manufacture
Exposure count
Patient image samples (de-identified)
Serial plate photos
Multiple machine angles
This gives our team everything we need to accurately assess your system’s value.
If your system qualifies, we’ll email you a competitive offer based on its:
Age and software version
Exposure count and maintenance history
Cosmetic and functional condition
Market demand and inventory levels
Accept the offer, and we’ll send you a formal Purchase Agreement, where you can specify payment to your practice or directly to your new equipment dealer.
Once signed, we assign a dedicated Project Coordinator to manage your pickup. We’ll work with you and your installer to time it around your new system’s install, minimizing downtime.
Your Coordinator will confirm the removal address, practice hours, equipment features, and removal logistics. We’ll even send you a checklist of what to expect on pickup day.
On the scheduled day, a certified Renew Digital technician will arrive at your office. Before we uninstall anything, we:
Test the X-ray or CBCT system to ensure it powers on
Verify exposure capability and image quality
Confirm the system matches what was described
Take documentation photos for our internal quality process
If the unit passes inspection, we move forward. If not, we’ll pause and talk through options—like rescheduling, repair, or price adjustment.
Once we inspect and approve the system, we begin to process your payment to the entity listed on the Purchase Agreement—whether that’s your practice, your new dealer, or your financing company.
Then we carefully remove the unit, crate it, and ship it out. You’re done.
Many of our sellers are upgrading to a newer CBCT or intraoral scanner, and working with their preferred dealer to do so.
Renew Digital can often coordinate directly with your new vendor, making your transition smoother and ensuring you don’t lose valuable time between systems.
Or, consider trading in your equipment to us for even greater value off new imaging prices!
Our customers already save 30-50% off new list prices, and bringing us your qualified trade-in can help take even more off your purchase price.
If you're considering selling or trading in your X-ray or CBCT system, there’s no obligation and no cost to get a quote. We make it simple, secure, and profitable to move on from your older imaging system.
