Ideal Patient Positioning
Positioning patients and capturing images with the Planmeca ProMax is easy and efficient. Before the patient enters the X-ray area, initiate image capture within the imaging or practice management software. On the Planmeca ProMax unit, select “2D Dental”, then “Panoramic”, then the program type. Identify the patient’s size and apply segmentation if needed.
To position the patient, adjust the height of the X-ray unit to the patient’s height. Have them stand up straight with their chin on the chin rest, holding the handles, and step forward so they are slightly leaning back and feet are aligned underneath the machine. They should be biting on both grooves of the bite stick. Close the temple supports and use the Frankfort plane light to guide and fine tune the patient’s head position. Adjust the layer light between the lateral incisor and canine, and ensure the patient’s head is straight with the midsagittal plane light. Select the appropriate jaw shape and size on the X-ray unit, and you’re ready to capture the image!
