This time, we’re here to talk about two recent additions to the iTero family: the iTero Lumina and the Element 5D. Here’s what to know. The iTero Lumina™ First introduced in 2024, the iTero Lumina intraoral scanner enables highly efficient workflows and delivers superior clinical accuracy, promising a first-time restoration fit. Per bench testing according to ADA/ANSI 132 Standards for long-distance and full-arch accuracy, the iTero Lumina outperformed competitors for both repeatability and reproducibility. The iTero Lumina also takes speed to a new level: with a wand that’s 50% smaller, it’s capable of 2xfaster scanning, and covers a FOV that’s 3 times larger, delivering superior full-jaw accuracy. The larger field of view is also a bonus for capturing challenging areas in greater detail, and is easier on both patients and practitioners. This is especially beneficial in complex cases such as edentulous spaces and palates. The unrivalled simplicity of the Lumina is another bonus for dental professionals, as anything from a single-unit crown to a full-arch scan can be captured, in greater accuracy, in a single pass. It saves time and effort, improving patient comfort and boosting practice efficiency. The iTero Lumina also redefines versatility, as the single intraoral scanner offers unparalleled capabilities such as an ability to generate photorealistic 3D models. It also sports an HD intraoral camera, as well as iTero’s NIRI Technology that aids in interproximal caries detection. The Lumina also improves patient communication and potentially even treatment acceptance through enhanced visual representation of each proposed treatment case. These intraoral scanners enable patient-centric views of each oral health condition while also reducing chair time and boosting comfort, thanks to their small, minimally invasive wands and the speed with which they can capture scans. All in all, the Lumina delivers a superior patient experience and can potentially boost practice efficiency and profitability by improving workflow efficiency, reducing turnaround time, and expanding practice offerings. ## iTero Element 5D - Part of the iTero CPO Program In Q2 2025, iTero launched a next generation to its popular CPO (or Certified Pre-Owned) Program. With the Lumina in hand, this brought the reseller market to the iTero Element models. Expanding from the CPO Element Flex, now doctors can find the previous generation Element 5D scanners with laptop configuration available at a fraction of the cost of new.
